DHA Omega 3 From Algae - The Vegetarian's Choice

When it comes to adding two servings of fish to your weekly diet as a means of increasing the consumption of the much needed Omega 3 fatty acids, some concern has arisen from the vegetarian community as to how this can be accomplished without the consumption of the actual fish or fish-based oils. The answer is actually simpler than one could imagine. Just as the animals of the sea are high in Omega 3, so too are the plants and seaweed when it comes to the Omega 3 fatty acid DHA.

For many countries around the world whose staple diet is fish, they also like to include seaweed into their diet and this too has been shown to be beneficial to longer and healthier lives. The main reason for this is simply because of the Omega 3 fatty acid DHA which can be found in vast amounts in the seaweed. These amounts are often higher than that of fish oil as well.

Furthermore, the DHA Omega 3 from algae is known to help lower cholesterol levels by promoting the body's absorption of the good cholesterol that is needed for an active and healthy lifestyle. So if you are not into eating all that fish, then the good news is that you do not have to since the seaweed, the ocean's lettuce, is full of Omega 3 fatty acids.

You do not have to be a vegetarian to enjoy the benefits of consuming seaweed neither as anyone can give it a try. While you may not like the taste of many fish species and may be worried about the possibility of mercury poisoning, it is good to know that there are many great tasting recipes using seaweed that are a must try for anyone and not just those who are vegetarians .

It all comes down to your health. You could keep going down the same path and possibly end up in an early grave as a result of cardiovascular disorders as well as inflammations and psychological disorders, or you can choose to add years to your life by increasing your daily intake of the Omega 3 fatty acids like the ones that can be found in algae like seaweed. So do your body a favor and add a little bit of Omega 3 to your daily diet.
